TWG Tea House ~ "KC Won't Return"!

  4. I think you haven't seen the notice on "NO拍照".
Next time pay attention on it.

  5. No free of lunch make u angry ?

  6. But as long as there are people queueing up for such an experience, the management won't give a toss.

People should start voting with their feet.

  7. Whether the shop is popular or not is irrelevant to me, afterall I won't return.

Where is it posted? And even though they say so I see no point of getting back the menu rudely.

If no free meal will make me angry, 8.5 out of 10 post here I should be dissatisfied. You should be looking into and teasing those who open their blog for free meals. Not me, out of my 1226 meals only 124 of them were by invitation. Next time you should pay attention to that.

  8. What is so secretive about the tea list/menu that the righteous bastard of the manager thought it to be appropriate to snatch it away from you?
Does the list contain the same teas that are offered in the store and available for purchase to consume at home, or even available for purchase online? It makes no sense.

I can understand no photos for a restaurant who does not want their secrets or popular dishes copied (there are many establishments and Japanese chain restaurants/bakeries/buffets that are very paranoid about that in Taipei) but those have usually been very polite about letting people know "no photographing" even if signs are posted but they give the benefit of the doubt to the person (and for them to have a chance to stop photographing). Hell even Michelin star restaurants don't pull this kind of BS. This is just a brunch place....and not even in a hotel. So crazy.

  9. We have TWG here in Singapore. I went once with my husband. It was nice and that's it. We have not been back since.

I think it's just plain rude to snatch a customer's menu away. No way we should expect this kind of treatment. If we are not allowed to take photos, just tell us nicely. What lousy customer service TWG has!

  10. that 洋人經理 has attitude problem, he ignored me even I was standing at the entrance for 5 mins! And they force people to line up outside the store so to look popular! Other shops in IFC would get your phone number and call you back later when the table is ready!

  13. Why have to pay high price for bad service? Even though they have tasty food, I would not go. KC write to their top management and complaint about it. I don't think they can use such manner to tell customer not to take photos.

  15. Thanks for all the reviews with objective points and comments, reading your blog become my everyday habit when I am not in Hong Kong and miss the restaurants in Hong Kong.

  17. A regular reader who really appreciates KC's reviews, I have yet to submit any comments until now. This incident prompts me to write in support of KC's review. Whatever objection the manager had with photography, he could have politely explained it to his client. His behavior was appalling for any restaurant, let alone one whose theme is "wellness". One would expect them to make an open apology to KC. Someone who is more tech savvy should probably make a case on Facebook, I for one will boycott this restaurant.

    1. I'm surprised to see so many people got tricked successfully by this company with just a "1837" in their logo. Even KC was being mislead into thinking that it was a "170年的茶葉老牌子".....

But actually "1837" was merely the year tea trade was made official in Singapore, NOT the year this company was established! In fact, this pretentious company was only established in late 2007 with their first tea salon/shop opened in 2008 at Singapore!!!

They are smart enough to remove any timeline associated with their company history from their website... but from the web you can still find some related news/press release/tv interviews, such as this:
      http://www.forbes.com/global/2009/1214/life-singapore-murjani-bouqdib-twg-ritzy-tea.html

As you can see, with no more than 5 years of age, this company is still very very young and no wonder they have yet to learn any proper manners...?
